How Does Laser Genesis Work?

Laser Genesis penetrates the skin’s surface and gently heats the upper dermis, the layer of the skin where collagen is found. Collagen is a structural protein that plays a key role in maintaining skin strength and elasticity. Production of collagen naturally slows over time, causing wrinkles, skin laxity and other changes associated with skin ageing. Laser Genesis helps reverse these changes by generating heat that stimulates the body’s natural healing processes and activates collagen remodelling. This simultaneously enhances the skin’s quality on a cellular level and creates visible improvements on the skin’s surface.

How Should I Prepare My Skin Before a Laser Genesis Treatment?

Little preparation is required before a Laser Genesis treatment. We recommend optimizing your skincare routine as advised by our dermatologist and our dermal clinicians. Sun protection is always important.

What Does Laser Genesis Treatment Involve? What Does it Feel Like? Is it Painful?

When you arrive for your Laser Genesis appointment, your laser clinician will cleanse your skin and provide you with safety eyewear. Your clinician will then pass the laser handpiece over the treatment zone in sections, holding it about half an inch above the surface of your skin. You will feel a gradual warming of your skin as the laser delivers heat to your upper dermis. Patients describe the treatment as being relaxing and feeling like warm rain. Laser Genesis does not require pain relief.

Is There Any Downtime After Laser Genesis?

Laser Genesis is a convenient lunchtime treatment with no downtime. Because it is gentle and minimally-invasive, most patients can return to their normal routine immediately after a session. You may experience some post-procedural redness, but it is generally slight and dissipates within an hour.

What Aftercare Should I Do After Laser Genesis?

The most important thing to remember after treatment with Laser Genesis is sun protection. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen if you will be outdoors for any length of time. We recommend avoiding strenuous activities for 48 hours post-procedure. We also recommend avoiding steam rooms, saunas, and chlorinated and saltwater pools.

Are There Side Effects Associated With Laser Genesis?

Most patients report few, if any, side effects. The most common side effect is minor redness that subsides within a few hours after treatment. This can be covered with makeup if desired.

What Improvements Can I Expect With Laser Genesis Skin Therapy?

The results of a single Laser Genesis treatment are immediate but subtle.
