What Is Ultraformer III?

Ultraformer III is an innovative non-surgical and non-invasive skin tightening and lifting treatment. How Does Ultraformer III Work?

Skin is made up of many layers, each of which has unique characteristics and performs critical functions. The epidermis is the visible top layer of the skin that protects the body. The dermis is the thick second layer. It contains sweat and oil glands, hair follicles, nerve endings, and the important structural proteins collagen and elastin. The bottom layer of skin, called the hypodermis or subcutaneous layer, connects the skin to the muscle and bone structures below. Every layer plays a role in keeping the skin firm and youthful.

Ultraformer III delivers concentrated waves of ultrasound into multiple layers of skin to lift, tighten and contour. During the procedure, bursts of finely tuned ultrasound energy travel to precise depths to stimulate neocollagenesis (collagen regeneration). Ultraformer III heats the targeted tissues to the specific temperature required to induce ‘thermal injury’, which causes existing collagen fibres to contract and, over time, new collagen to form. Through the process of collagen regeneration, patients experience tighter, firmer skin, along with some reversal of sagging and superficial wrinkles in the treated areas.

What Should I Expect During the Ultraformer III Procedure? 

Before the procedure, your dermatologist or dermal clinician will evaluate your concerns and provide you with a custom treatment plan to yield the best results. The consultation is a crucial part of your first Ultraformer III treatment, enabling us to accurately diagnose your skin and make appropriate recommendations.

A local anaesthetic cream may be applied 45 minutes to an hour before the procedure. Oral or other analgesia may also be used. As the Ultraformer III device is applied to your skin, it emits warm pulses of ultrasound energy. The degree of heat required to achieve optimal results will likely cause some discomfort. This is expected, and the level of discomfort depends on your personal tolerance and the area being treated. Your dermatologist/dermal clinician will develop a plan to keep you as comfortable as possible during the procedure.

The Ultraformer III treatment takes approximately 45-60 minutes to perform on one area, such as the face or neck.

What Will Recovery Be Like After My Ultraformer III Treatment?

No downtime is needed after receiving an Ultraformer III treatment. It is normal to feel some discomfort following the procedure, but most patients can return to their regular activities right away.

Expect to experience a feeling similar to a mild sunburn for one to two hours after a session, including redness and heat. Mild bruising and swelling can persist for several days after the procedure. You may also experience slight numbness, a dull ache or a tingling sensation for up to a few weeks. 

What Results Should I Expect?

Your Ultraformer III results will occur in two phases:

1. In the first phase, you will notice an immediate tightening of your skin in the treated area. The heat from the ultrasound energy causes the network of collagen fibres in your skin to contract, providing a natural tightening effect that’s visible as soon as your treatment is complete.

1. In the second phase, more profound and lasting results will gradually become evident. Ultraformer III stimulates the production of new, stronger collagen with a more ‘youthful’ structure. This, in turn, strengthens your skin and reinforces its internal support system, helping to reverse the effects of ageing on your skin. Maximum benefits typically occur between six and nine months after treatment. 

The changes Ultraformer III produces in the epidermis and dermal collagen are permanent; nevertheless, factors such as time, sun exposure and gravity will continue to take a toll. A maintenance program of Ultraformer III treatments every six to 12 months will help preserve your improvements, and each subsequent treatment is likely to provide some additional benefits.
